Bringing Legendary Creatures to Life
The Hungarian Horntail Dragon – Wizarding World of Harry Potter
Universal Studios selected CLX Engineering to engineer the control system for the fire-breathing animatronic dragon at the first-ever Wizarding World of Harry Potter. This project demanded:
Linear actuators capable of moving massive loads at high speed
Motion profiles fine-tuned for fluid, lifelike movement
System design that fit within a confined structural envelope wrapped in a latex skin
Rigid safety compliance, including Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT)
Despite these challenges, CLX delivered a system that combined performance, realism, and uncompromising safety for both park guests and staff.
